The Day I made my first ONLINE SALE from Manipur
I still remember the day I have made my first online sale of my life way back to 2004. It was around August – September of 2004, came back to home after giving up my campus job offer and was busy in building my first online business website. I have spent around 25 days in developing the website with integration of the payment gateway.
I was using CCAvenue, the best payment gateway service in India. E-commerce and online business was not that common in those days in INDIA. The service I was selling was Shared Web Hosting packages.
Once I finished the development of the site I have opened an Google Adwords account for the online advertising. In those days the CPC (cost per click) in India was relatively very small comparing to today’s CPC. The CPC of the keyword related to web hosting was around Rs.1 or USD 0.02, but today the same keyword cost around Rs.20-30 per click or USD 0.4-0.6. I have invested USD 40 on google adwords to receive around 2000 visitors to my website.
I had started running the advertisement in an evening and the next morning as soon as I woke up I went straight to my PC and checked out the visitor stats and payment gateway report. It was a BIG SURPRISE!!!!!!! I got sale of a web hosting package costing USD 25 while I was sleeping. It was unbelievable and the customer was from CANADA.
That morning was the best morning of my life.:-)
