I’m back with Part -2 post in Adsense Blogging.

This is the 2nd Insight in Google Adsense Blogging which will drastically increase your earning potential.

After doing the keyword research and selecting a NICHE then the next thing you have to consider is your Target Country. Target country makes a great difference in the pricing of cpc.

I was/am blogging from India and usually the cpc is really low here at India while comparing the same keyword in USA traffic. There are certain keywords that reach $10-$100 cpc in wetern countries but not so in a country like India.

CPC pricing and online Ad pricing is increasing rapidly in India too. So you can see India also a prospected market in the next 1-3 years.

To give you a first hand information I’ll give you a case study:

In 2005 I have done the google adword advertising at a max. Rs.3 or $0.1 CPC in the keyword range “WEB DESIGN”, “WEB HOSTING” . The same keyword, today in 2010, CPC pricing rose to Rs.20 – Rs.30/$.4 – $.6.

So, I realised that the Online Advertising cost in India is increasing sharply, and so the good earning for Blogger and Publisher.

After all, I feel that the target country traffic really affects your Adsense earning.

I was using CCAvenue, the best payment gateway service in India. E-commerce and online business was not that common in those days in INDIA. The service I was selling was Shared Web Hosting packages.

Once I finished the development of the site I have opened an Google Adwords account for the online advertising. In those days the CPC (cost per click) in India was relatively very small comparing to today’s CPC. The CPC of the keyword related to web hosting was around Rs.1 or USD 0.02, but today the same keyword cost around Rs.20-30 per click or USD 0.4-0.6. I have invested USD 40 on google adwords to receive around 2000 visitors to my website.

I had started running the advertisement in an evening and the next morning as soon as I woke up I went straight to my PC and checked out the visitor stats and payment gateway report. It was a BIG SURPRISE!!!!!!! I got sale of a web hosting package costing USD 25 while I was sleeping. It was unbelievable and the customer was from CANADA.

That morning was the best morning of my life.:-)

Customer#1: This kind of customer thinks that the design cost of a website is very costly and not affordable to them, so they never approach to a web designer or web designing firm but the website he has in his mind is just a simple static website in a price range of Rs.5000 – 10,000.

Customer#2: This particular customer thinks that the website design cost is very cheap. He expect to design his website at just a cost of Rs.3000-4000, because he had seen such a price in some ads online or heard from some under priced and cheap web designer but he’ll come out with design plan costing more than Rs. 1 Lac.

In either case we miss the CUSTOMER. So for the general information of the customers and public, the price of a website vary in many ways because of the functionality, technology and complexity.

In general we just divide website into 3 categories as follows:

INFORMATION PORTAL: A website which displays the basic information of an Organization or Personal or Business. In the traditional ways it was just the case of an information brochure or prospectus. In the very simple logic Information Portal replace the Brochure. Such a site can be developed as static website or CMS (Content Management System) website depending upon the frequency of information update.

APPLICATION PORTAL: If you ever want to have an example of an application portal then you can take the case of the website of courier services like DTDC, DHL, BlueDart, FedEx where you can track your shipment delivery through their website. Before the coming of internet, you would have to call to a customer support agent to track your package but today you no more need the help of an customer support agent. So, application portal usually replace the work of a HUMAN or BUSINESS ACTIVITY. They are more costly and the pricing can range from a few Lakh to some Million Dollars.

E-COMMERCE PORTAL: Cash transaction or sales of product through website is the main differentiating factor of an e-commerce portal from other websites. The main priority of every business is to make sales of product or service. Building such a website need not only the website design technology but also the design should be at par with the sales and marketing strategy of the business.
